jeromedelisle consulting (two words) is the business label for my domain at jeromedelisle.com.

Do you need my services in educational assessment, programme evaluation or in educational research. Are you located in Trinidad and Tobago or the Caribbean?

I can work with you to create ideas, activities or workshops for improving the performance of your educational institution through high quality assessment or evaluation processes.

On this site are the 2013 and 2014 workshops conducted for teachers in Tobago funded by DEYAS.

My career as a teacher and researcher

I once taught Biology and Integrated Science at both the Junior and Senior Secondary Levels. (That seems such a long time ago)

In 1993, I began to lecture at the University of the West Indies at St. Augustine, Trinidad, in the areas of leadership and management in education, student and assessment and educational evaluation.  I have also dabbled in science education.

In 1998 I moved to the Centre for Medical Sciences Education, cited at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.   My post as a Lecturer in Measurement & Evaluation was much different as I became involved in "real work" such as assessment design, developing and managing examination systems and also implementing quality assurance systems in higher education.

I trained staff at Mona and St. Augustine Medical Schools in assessment policy and practice. At St. Augustine, I managed aspects of the assessment process, including computerized scoring of MCQs.

Since 1999, I have extended my work in evaluation and quality assessment. That included being Chair of the Audit Committee at the Faculty of Medical Sciences.  My research interests in this area remain varied, extending to publications on value-added performance indicators, student failure in tertiary education, and male underachievement in higher education.

Throughout my career at "Mount Hope" I continued to teach organizational theory and school improvement in the Faculty of Humanities and Education.

In January 2006 I returned to the School of Education.  I am formally assigned to the area of Educational Administration but still focus mostly on my subspecialty of measurement and evaluation. In 2009, I was appointed Senior Lecturer.

I have successfully expanded my research areas on returning to the School of Education.  In 2009 I completed two large research projects on school choice in Trinidad and Tobago and the identification and study of schools facing challenging circumstances.  I am also engaged in a range of consultancies, including some teaching for other Universities and research and evaluation work associated with funded projects. My work on the evaluation of CAP has been published in several arenas.

In 2013 I wrote for the Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Education a report on the evaluation of the single sex school conversion (data collected by the MoE)

In 2015-2016 I was technical leader of the UWI School of Education Evaluation of the Primary School Curriculum Rewrite.

My latest research project focuses on public examinations like the Eleven Plus and on the nature of inequalities in education system.
