The PLC Page

PLCs are a critical and useful professional development/staff development tool. Evidence suggests that this is one strategy which if done right, will lead to student learning.

Use PLCs when you implement the formative assessment initiative in Tobago.

Be guided by the core questions of (1) how does formative assessment and the formative assessment classroom look like , (2) what will the staff do in each classroom and when working together , (3) how will staff evaluate the outcomes and quality of implementation.

  • PLCs at Work in the US
PLCs should be viewed as a process of teachers woirking together to achieve a vision of what they want the school to be.
  • A district implements PLCS
The PLC process are groups of teachers focused on (1) what they want each student to learn, (2) how are they going to know if students are learning, (3) how are they going to respond when some students do not learn, and (4) how they respond when some students have achieved the outcomes.
